My current gallery work is focused on Los Angeles and especially the east side area of Boyle Heights where I live. The work is about capturing the essence the city that I have made my home. The work occupies a space between painting and photography, employing both traditional painterly technique as well as digital image making processes. The pieces are based on photographic images that I collage in the computer along with drawings and traditional mark making. The final pieces are a mixture of paint and collage.
This process allows me to construct images that are a mixture of reality, memory and imagination fused to form the city that I occupy not just physically but emotionally and mentally.
